Invisalign

Invisalign takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements Dr. Yermian plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You just pop in a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete. You’ll achieve a great smile with little interference in your daily life.

General Process

There is a free-of-charge initial consultation appointment. We do need to have current X-rays to determine if there are any teeth in question and the status of your periodontal health. If you are a good candidate for Invisalign treatment, the next steps are impressions and photographs that will be sent to Invisalign. It takes about 4-5 weeks to get all your trays fabricated and shipped to us. The second appointment is about 45 minutes long, where we will go over your plan in more detail, put on any attachments on your teeth, and give you general instructions. We give about 3-4 trays at a time, and each tray you wear for 2 weeks. You switch trays on your own until you are on your last tray, and then you schedule a quick appointment with us for some more trays.

Aesthetics

Virtually invisible, especially compared to the alternative of braces.

Cost

The cost of Invisalign Full treatment is similar to that of traditional braces. However, there are shorter Invisalign treatment courses which makes the cost significantly cheaper.

Some dental insurance plans provide you with orthodontic coverage. If you are interested, we can have someone in the front office look at your plan and go from there.

Retainers, which are necessary to keep the teeth the correct alignment after treatment, are not included in the cost of Invisalign since there are a lot of variation between different types of retainers.

Efficacy

Invisalign can be as effective as traditional braces for all of the most common teeth-straightening issues when worn according to the recommended 20-22 hours of daily use. When not worn properly, Invisalign trays might not move your teeth according to our plan and treatment length can increase. Traditional braces have a higher level of compliance because they are fixed on your teeth during the duration of the treatment.

Oral Hygiene

The aligners can be removed for normal brushing and flossing, therefore, it’s easier to maintain a good level of oral hygiene throughout the course of treatment. This feature is significantly better when compared to traditional braces that are fixed. There is a general tendency towards increased plaque accumulation and gingival inflammation with traditional fixed braces.

Comfort

Most people experience only temporary, minor discomfort at the beginning of each new stage of treatment. This short-term effect is typically described as feeling pressure. Speech may be temporarily affected at the beginning of treatment, and when you mouth gets used to the tray, it will start becoming normal. Again, when compared to traditional braces, Invisalign trays are greatly superior in comfort.

Traveling

Invisalign is great for patients who travel. If you have a vacation planned, or are constantly on traveling for work, than we can give you the appropriate amount of trays for you to wear during your trip- that way you don’t miss a beat!
