Stains and discoloration can appear on teeth over long periods of time from very normal activities and factors. Smoking, drinking red wine and cola and some medications will also contribute to the color change in your teeth. Dr. Yermian can help remove marks and discoloration by creating custom made bleaching trays. This is the best way anyone can whiten their teeth without damaging their enamel.
Internal bleaching is a technique that is used to whiten the appearance of tooth with an existing root canal. Unlike over-the-counter solutions that are used to whiten teeth, internal bleaching is conducted under the direction of a dentist. Because the treatment requires invasive action, it is important that a professional conduct the tooth bleaching in a controlled environment.
Dental bonding has proven extremely useful for many patients with damaged, defective, chipped, or broken teeth. The act of bonding, through a biomimetic approach, allows us to restore the damaged teeth to mimic the function, strength, and beauty of natural teeth in a very conservative fashion. A qualified dental professional will be able to bond material in such a way that the tooth retains a natural shape and look, even when compared to the patient’s undamaged teeth.
Veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made shells that cover the front surface of teeth. Bonded to the front of the teeth, changing their color, shape, size or length, veneers can be made from porcelain or resin composite. Porcelain veneers offer another conservative approach to changing a tooth’s color or shape compared to crowns, but the process is not reversible.
A crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that’s placed over a weak or damaged tooth to improve its shape, size, strength, or appearance. Typically we place crowns on your back teeth that have existing root canal treatment and will take a lot of occlusal forces. Most crowns lasts several years and can be made of metal, porcelain fused to metal, resin, or ceramic.
A fixed (permanent) bridge replaces one or more teeth by placing crowns on the adjacent teeth, and attaching artificial teeth to them.
