Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is a procedure whereby a tooth-colored composite-resin is sculpted and bonded on to the tooth, either covering parts of it or the entire surface like a porcelain veneer.
Dental bonding has proven extremely useful for many patients with damaged, defective, chipped, or broken teeth. The act of bonding, through a biomimetic approach, allows us to restore the damaged teeth to mimic the function, strength, and beauty of natural teeth in a very conservative fashion. A qualified dental professional will be able to bond material in such a way that the tooth retains a natural shape and look, even when compared to the patient’s undamaged teeth.
Composite bonding is very versatile and can be used to treat a variety of clinical scenarios including :
- Smile Makeovers
- Improving alignment of teeth
- Close gaps between teeth
- Close the dark triangles by the gumline
- Improve the shape, size and color of teeth
- Repair and restore fractured or decayed teeth
The benefits of composite bonding over porcelain veneers are:
- Usually requires little or no preparation of the tooth
- Less pain and discomfort than traditional veneers
- Often completed within a single visit
- Typically no shots are given during the procedure
- Cheaper than porcelain restorations
- Easier and cheaper to repair than porcelain restorations
- Temporaries aren’t needed.
A composite veneer is more conservative, less-expensive, and easily repairable when compared to the alternative of a porcelain veneer, and because of that, sometimes it is the more preferable option.
